Overtraining is a physical, behavioral, and emotional condition that occurs when the volume and intensity of an individual's exercise exceeds their recovery capacity. They cease making progress, and can even begin to lose strength and fitness. --Wikipedia That is a great definition for the start of understanding every facet of overtraining so it can be recognized, avoided and treated properly. It is important to note that Overtraining is a syndrome meaning it has many facets and no single cause or fix. This website and this blog is designed to bring forth the research that exists on the subject and put it together in a format that is easy to understand and even easier to apply to any kind of training to help you avoid this terrible condition if you aren't already suffering from it. The ideas brought forth in this blog will be focused on the research when possible and when it is not I will use the expertise of those in the field treating and preventing these problems on a constant basis and what they are finding with their clients. The aim is to bring forth the information necessary for athletes of all backgrounds to prevent overtraining and the multitude of injuries associated with it.
